Frequently asked

Auto Repair FAQ

Answers to the questions we hear most at EBA Automotive in Allen, TX. If yours is not here, call us at (972) 442-6400.

How often should I get an oil change?

For most cars we recommend an oil and filter change every 6 months or 3,000 to 5,000 miles, but it depends on your vehicle and oil type. We'll check your owner's manual recommendation against how you actually drive.

Why is my check engine light on?

Could be anything from a loose gas cap to a failing sensor. A free code read only tells you where to start looking, so we run a real check engine light diagnostic and you know exactly what's wrong before any work starts.

How do I know if I need new brakes?

Squealing, grinding, a soft pedal, or the car pulling to one side are the usual signs. Get them checked before it turns into a rotor replacement too. See our brake repair service.

Do you work on all makes and models?

Yes, American, Asian, and European vehicles. Ford, Honda, and Toyota are what we see most, and our technicians are ASE certified. See the vehicles we work on.

What does a 30k/60k/90k/120k service include?

It's the manufacturer's scheduled maintenance for that mileage: fluid changes, filters, belts, and inspections that catch small issues before they get expensive. Factory scheduled maintenance is our most popular service and many drivers use us as a dealer alternative for it. See all our services.

Will you tell me if a repair isn't actually needed?

Yes, we don't sell repairs you don't need. We show you what needs fixing, give you the options, and tell you how long you can safely wait. You can also ask to see the old part afterward so you know what was actually replaced.

Why is my AC not blowing cold air?

Usually a refrigerant leak, a failing compressor, or another AC component going bad. We diagnose it first so you're not paying to guess. Read more about car AC blowing warm.

How do I know if I need a wheel alignment?

If your car pulls to one side, the steering wheel sits off-center while driving straight, or your tires are wearing unevenly, that's an alignment issue. See our wheel alignment service.

What's your warranty?

We back our work with a 24 month/24,000 mile warranty, and since we belong to the TechNet network it is a nationwide warranty, honored at over 30,000 repair shops across the country. Some exclusions apply. See our warranties.

Do you serve areas outside Allen?

Yes, we regularly see customers from Plano, McKinney, Frisco, Fairview, Murphy, Parker, Lucas, and Wylie.

What are your hours and how do I reach you?
